Murano in the Venice lagoon is famed Worldwide for it's artistic glassware. Easily reached by vaporetto from the main island, this charming little place came to fame when the artisans had to move their furnaces from Venice Island. Murano is where they set up shop instead. The island itself has a very laid back feel to it, and, of course, glassware is sold just about everywhere. |
| | furnaces There are several trips laid on from Venice to Murano to watch the glassblowers at work. Near Piazza San Marco, you can get yourself a free ride to and from one of the glassworks on a water taxi. Just look for guys with clipboards. Tell them you want to go, and voila!! |
