totus via plumbum ut roma

scala di spagna
Get away from the main roads and the cobblestoned , narrow streets just dont lend themselves to the car.
The history of Rome is known by all. Nevertheless, Julius Caesar was not assassinated on the steps of the Senate. It had burnt down some weeks before. He was attending a senate meeting in a temporary building on the Fields of Mars. He was actually assassinated in what is now a famous Roman restaurant.

the plebiscite is alive and well

Rome is now nothing more than one huge tourist trap. Have your photo taken outside the Amphitheatre of Vespasian(the Colloseum) with a centurion(after he's put his cigarette out). Follow an umbrella toting guide through the forum(dont forget you cam corder). Does anybody ever stop and take in the glory that was Rome. No time, move on to the next monument.
Take a walk through the backstreets - this is Rome
