I go into Athens while I'm staying with my Aunt in Mabank. Athens has a lot of the major restaurants and activities. I like their square. It has the major hospital as well, which I visited frequently before my grandparents passed away. My aunt also works in Athens at the eurologist center.

Athens is a small country city in East Texas close by Mabank, Malakoff, and Gun Barrel City.

My favorite part is the little town feel. Everyone waves and there is only one Starbucks in the walmart (heard not seen).

I really like the feel of the town square and the small shops and courthouse. On a pretty day it's nice just to sit on a bench and people walk, read, or have a picnic.
