The Tammany Trace - Mandeville
The Tammany Trace

I never know who looks at the different areas of travel so I thought I would also include this in my Things To Do.

The Tammany Trace is a 31-mile trail connecting the four cities of Covington, Abita Springs, Mandeville and Slidell. Most people bike the trail but it's also available to walk or jog. You can start and stop wherever you wish.

In Mandeville there are bike rentals if you aren't close by or if you didn't bring your bike.

I highly suggest bringing plenty of water especially in the South since it's SO hot and humid here!

Beautiful Houses near Lake Pontchartrain - Mandeville
Beautiful Houses near Lake Pontchartrain

I would highly suggest driving around the small roads around the Lake Pontchartrain. The designs are beautiful and many of the houses are very well kept. I had a lot of fun driving around and looking at them. Very neat!

I would have taken more pictures but some of the neighbors were out and looking at me funny! I didn't want to disturb anyone and since I was alone I didn't feel very safe doing so.

Visit Lake Pontchartrain - Mandeville
Visit Lake Pontchartrain

I found my trip to Lake Pontchartrain a highlight of Mandeville. I went during a weekday and everything seemed to calm and peaceful. There are plenty of biking and jogging trails around the lake. There were kid playgrounds and plenty of grass for picnics or fun games like football or soccer. There was even a group of women doing yoga in one of the gazebos. Very enjoyable experience!

Directions: No address for the parks just go to the lake front

Mandeville Trailhead - Mandeville
Mandeville Trailhead

I read about the Tammany Trace and wanted to visit the three Trailheads. I wasn't quite expecting how nice they were. The Trailhead in Mandeville had restrooms and vending machines, an ampitheater for live entertainment and a water park for kids. When I saw park I do not mean something huge. There were streams of water shooting out of the ground and the kids were running around in their bathing suits.

Walking around the pavilion area I was able to read the plaques explaining the history of the town of Mandeville and it was very nice. Definitely worth a visit if you're in Mandeville.

Check website for listings of the events happening at the Trailhead, like the farmers market!

Address: 675 Lafitte Street

Directions: Take 1-12 to the LA 59 exit, Exit 65.
Go approx 2.9 miles S on LA 59, it becomes LA 59/Gerard Street.
Cont S on Gerard Street less than 1/2 mile (fire station on left).
Turn right after crossing old RR tracks (now Tammany Trace) into parking lot.
