"Beautiful, Tiny Town North of New Orleans" Madisonville by msbrandysue

Madisonville Travel Guide: 4 reviews and 22 photos

Why Did I Come?

I came to Madisonville (like the rest of the Louisiana places so far) because of 1000 Things to See Before You Die USA Edition. It talked about the beautiful houses and water-front properties. And claimed that Madisonville was most known for Coffee's Boilin Pot, the restaurant (pictured below).

The city is near
Abita Springs
and north of New Orleans.

My Favorite Part

My favorite part was definitely going through the small town center and seeing all the classic houses. Here's a bad picture of the local library. I wish I had gone inside. I bet it's great.

Surprise Attraction

I loved the seafood here, fresh out of the Tchefuncte River. It was so fresh...not like the Red Lobster stuff I usually call seafood in Houston.

Pros and Cons
  • Pros:Beautiful houses, and water-front homes, seafood
  • Cons:Not much else to see/do but I do think there's a museum!
  • In a nutshell:Can I retire here??
