    Getting TO/AROUND: There are many ways to get to Venice. I arrived in a nice tour bus from Rome. I know you can fly into Venice from your home. Some people start in Rome and take a train here.

    If you are driving in or taking a train from another part of Italy I would really urge you to keep your eyes open on the countryside/scenary! Some of the people decided to sleep on the trip and boy did they miss some neat villages and ancient towns. It was really breathtaking. I really wish I could have visited them all...

    Getting TO/AROUND: If you decide to travel the canals with your own personal transportation make sure to obey the laws of the water. Just like driving there are right-of-ways, traffic lights, and more. Here is a shot I took of one of the traffic lights that is actually hanging over the water. It was just really neat to see.

    Getting TO/AROUND: That's right! Venice has buses. Water buses. If paying a bunch of money to get around the canals is not your cup of tea feel free to take the public transportation that Venic offers.

    This website talks about the difference in bus and boat stops. It also suggests the Venice Card which is a daily public transportation card.

    One use of the bus can cost around 6 Euros so I would highly recommend the daily, 3 day or 7 day pass. You'll save a lot more money!

    Getting TO/AROUND: A great way to get to know Venice is by taking one of the many boat tours offered. The hotel you stay at can hook you up or if you buy a packaged tour they will probably include one. This is a great way to get an introduction to Venice. You get to see the beautiful colors, people, customs, transportation, etc. Here are a few pictures from our boat cruise.

     Good tip about how to choose a gondolier. My experience (true, it was a few decades ago) was not very memorable!
