History of Art was one of my favourite subjects during my freshman year at university. I was very lucky to have a professor who had visited and photographed most of the interesting cultural places all over the world. Everytime I saw him entering the university hall, packed with his slide projector and an endless number of slides, my heart leaped up. I knew that once the door was closed, he would switch off the lights and introduce us to the impressive world of Renaissance. It was a magical experience, sitting in that dark room with the artistic wonders of another time projected on a big, white screen. Unfortunately, when the lights were switched on again, the magic was gone and all I had was the memory of slides. During the following summer holiday (I was 18) I went to Florence and Rome to go and see it for myself. I really enjoyed this cultural trip. Not only because all of my memories came alive but because there is so much more in these Italian cities that make you feel good. |
