Nightlife Spot: Half Moon Party

Unfortunately we missed the full moon party on Koh Pha-Ngan but we did go to the half moon party in Chaweng. Really good music (house, trance) and a really friendly atmosphere. Of course there's a fair amount of drugs around too which you would expect at these kind of events but it's easy to avoid. They sell buckets of drink (vodka and redbull etc..) and there are a number of stalls to get some food. There are temporary toilets put up for the event but they don't provide loo roll, you have to pay for it, so keep some in your pockets!

It starts getting busy around 1-2 in the morning. Really well organised, plenty of cabs to take you back to your accommodation. Dance til sunrise!!

Nightlife Spot: Green Mango

I think by far the best club/bar to go to in Chaweng, it seemed the most lively and had the best atmosphere. Drinks are cheap and cocktails are tasty!! ;) It doesn't start kicking off here until about midnight which is when it seems everyone on Samui decends on the Green Mango. Can get very packed and expect to get hot and sweaty. People seemed really nice and friendly and there didn't seem to be any trouble so a far cry from the clubs in London!!

Nightlife Spot: Reggae Bar

Hmmmm what to say about the Reggae Bar.... Well it's a great place to see the seedier side of Samui that's for sure. It does what it says - it's a reggae bar so expect lots of Bob Marley tunes. It was reasonably quiet when we went and seemed to be mainly older men surrounded by very young Thai girls.

It has its plus points though - there's a nice view over the lake and the cocktails are pretty good. Would have liked to have seen it when it was a bit more lively but it wasn't my cup of tea so I avoided the place after that...

Nightlife Spot: Star Club Caberet

A must see when coming to Thailand and such a good night out. The Star Club caberet starts around 10-10.30 and is great entertainment. Watch the Lady boys prance up and down and sing to classic camp songs. Absolutely gorgeous figures so ladies try not to get too jealous! ;)

Nightlife Spot: Tropical Murphy's

You can't go anywhere in the world without coming across an Irish pub which says a lot for their popularity and Tropical Murphy's certainly attracts a crowd. Situated in central Chaweng Beach Road it has a really great atmosphere and also serves good food especially if you're looking for those dishes that remind you of home.

They have live music every night of the week in the upstairs bar from traditional Irish folk music (which will get you up dancing) to more modern rock/pop. There are also some big screens which show most major sporting events. Great night out, so pop in for a guiness!

Nightlife Spot: The Ark Bar

Keep you ears open for various beach parties that happen on Chaweng Beach (normally at the Ark Bar around near there), although you probably won't miss it as the cars drive round constantly announcing when the parties are. There's some good music, lots of drinking and a wicked atmosphere. The Ark Bar is also a restaurant.
