Richfield and Sevier County

Richfield is a city of over 7500 located in South Central Utah. It is the county seat of Sevier County and is the largest city in this part of the state. Richfield is almost precisely halfway between Los Angeles and Denver. Mankind has occupied this area for over 7000 years and there are the remains of several "Fremont Culture" settlements in the area. The area was settled in January 1864 by a group of men from Sanpete County, briefly abandoned in 1867 due to the Blackhawk War then permanently settled in 1871. Sevier County was named after the nearby Sevier River (the longest river in the state).
