"Basaic Crystal City Page" Crystal City by Basaic

Crystal City is a decent sized town of almost 8000 located in the South Texas Plains of Southwest Texas. Crystal City has been a primary processing and shipping center for food grown by a Del Monte plant and area farmers. Crops include watermelons, cantaloupes, carrots, onions, peppers, tomatoes and especially spinach. Crystal City is the county seat for Zavala County.

Crystal City Historic District

Crystal City has a nice historic district with a number of buildings of historical and/or architectural interest. It was also the site of a World War II Internment Camp. There are historical markers inside the town limits concerning the camp. I did not get the chance to locate these.

Popeye

What better way could there be to pay tribute to the areas large spinach crop than with statues of Popeye? These statues are very popular photo subjects.
