Sisseton and Roberts County

Sisseton is a small town of about 2400 (down 5% since 2000) located just west of Interstate 29 on South Dakota Highway 10 in Roberts County on the Traverse Indian Reservation in the northeast corner of South Dakota. It is near the borders with Minnesota and North Dakota. The town is named for the Sisseton Band of the Sioux Nation. Sisseton is the county seat of Roberts County. "Mean" Gene Okerlund of professional wrestling fame is from here.

Stavig House Museum

Sisseton has a nice museum in a historical home and about 7 locations listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Sica Hollow State Park

There is also a very nice recreational state park nearby.
