The tiny town of Gene Autry, Oklahoma, was founded as "Lou" after the wife of the postmaster in July 1883, then was renamed Dresden in November 1883, then Berwyn in 1887 and finally Gene Autry (after the singing cowboy star) in 1941. There is a nice museum there dedicated to the "B" movie cowboy stars from the 30s, 40s, and 50s, especially the "singing cowboys" like Autry who owned a ranch nearby. Hour are 10 AM to 4 PM Monday through Saturday.
