Welcome Center

Glenrio is a ghost town with a population of about 15 located along Business Interstate 40 (Interstate 40 Exit 0) in both New Mexico and Texas. One of the main reasons to stop here, maybe the only one, is the nice new New Mexico Welcome Center with the display from the Dinosaur Museum in Tucumcari. Glenrio started as a railroad town in 1903, and later was on Route 66. Scenes from the movie "Grapes of Wrath" were filmed here and a scene from the movie "Cars" was based on an abandoned motel here. Glenrio is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
