Caballo Lake State Park

The town of Caballo offers two state parks. The first one is its namesake Caballo Lake State Park. Caballo Lake has 11,500 acres of lake surface area and offers all types of water activities like boating, fishing and watching water fowl. They also have over 250 developed and undeveloped camping sites and a cactus garden.

Percha Dam State Park

Just down the road from Caballo Lake is another state park located along the Rio Grande, Percha Dam State Park. People come here to camp, picnic, fish, swim, and bird-watch amidst the towering cottonwood trees and the velvet ash trees. Percha Dam State Park is also one of the 5 top birding sites in New Mexico.
