Neligh and Antelope County

Neligh (pronounced NEE Lee) is a town of about 1600, a slight decline from 2000. It is located in Northeast Nebraska, and was founded in 1872. It is the county seat of Antelope County and has a very nice courthouse that was built in 1894 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Neligh Mill State Historic Site

Visiting Neligh Mill State Historic Site is one of the main things to do while visiting the town of Neligh.

Another nearby attraction is Ashfall Fossil Beds National Historic Landmark (and State Park).

There are also a few nice museums in Neligh. This one is the Antelope County Museum. It is located on the main street through town in the old Gates College Gymnasium. The building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Another nice museum in town is the Pierson Wildlife Museum.
