Beach and Golden Valley County

As you enter North Dakota from the west on Interstate 94, the first place you see is the town of Beach. Beach was incorporated in 1909 and was named after Captain Warren Beach. It is the county seat for Golden Valley County and had a population of about 1100 in the 2000 Census. The North Dakota Welcome Center on Interstate 94 is located in Beach.

At the Welcome Center there is a short trail showing some of the local scenery.

Nearby Attractions

There are several attractions just east of Beach: Theodore Roosevelt National Park (South Unit) (23 miles); the town of Medora with the De Mores State Historic Site (23 miles); and the town of Dickinson (63 miles).
