Magnolia is a town in Southwest Mississippi with a little over 2400 residents an almost 17% increase from 2000. Magnolia was settled in 1810 and incorporated in 1859. The town was named by Mary Sinnot, a local, after the many magnolia trees inside the town. There are still a lot of magnolias here. Magnolia has been the county seat of Pike County since 1872. Pike County was named after explorer Zebulon Pike.

Magnolia has two National Historic Districts (Myrtle Street and Southtown) with several buildings of historical and/or architectural interest. Many of them are listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
