Cuthbert and Randolph County

Cuthbert is a town of about 4000 located in Southwest Georgia, along US Highway 82 near the intersection with US Highway 27. Cuthbert is in a predominantly agricultural area and is the county seat of Randolph County. The Randolph County Courthouse was built by the Atlanta architectural firm of Kimball, Wheeler and Parkins using the Queen Anne style of architecture. It was built in 1886 replacing an earlier courthouse. Interestingly, this is the second county in Georgia named after a Virginia statesman named Randolph. The first one changed the name after Randolph sponsored a piece of legislation that angered many people in Georgia.

Cuthbert Historic District

Cuthbert has a nice little historic district with a few buildings of historical and/or architectural interest.

Civil War Memorial

Cuthbert has a nice civil war memorial located on the courthouse square.
