Historic Windsor Hotel

The Windsor Hotel was built in 1892 using the Victorian style of architecture and covers almost an entire city block. It has 100 rooms and is 5 stories tall. Famous people like former president Jimmy Carter, actor Martin Sheen and notorious gangster Al Capone have stayed here. The hotel closed its doors in the 70's but after a 5.8 million dollar restoration is open again. The luxurious lobby is a popular setting for weddings.

Historic District

Americus also boasts several interesting historic buildings in its historic district to include the impressive looking Empire Bank Building.

Nearby Attractions

Americus is also situated just 10 miles from historic Plains, Georgia boyhood and current home of the 39th president, Jimmy Carter and Andersonville National Historic Site where the notorious Andersonville Prison was located during the Civil War.
