Macclenny and Baker County

Macclenny is a decent sized town of over 6300 located in Baker County in Northeast Florida. It is pretty close to where I grew up. The current Baker County Courthouse is a slightly newer replacement for the old courthouse. Baker County was founded in 1861, and was named for James McNair Baker, a judge and Confederate Senator. In 1864 the Battle of Olustee, which was the only major American Civil War battle in Florida, was fought near Lake City, Florida in Baker County. Baker County is predomonately rural but is included in the Jacksonville Metropolitan Area.

Historic District

Macclenny has a nice little historic district with several buildings of historical and/or architectural interest.
