Alamosa

Alamosa is the county seat of Alamosa County and has a population of around 9000. It is considered the industrial center of the San Luis Valley in South Central Colorado. It was established by the Denver and Rio Grande Railroad in 1878. It is also the gateway to the Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve.

Adams University

Alamosa is home to Adams University which has a number of interesting buildings and at least one museum.

Museums

The most interesting museum in town is the San Luis Valley Museum.
