Window Rock

Window Rock refers to both the rock formation which is sacred to the Navajo People and the town itself. Window Rock the town is the capitol of the Navajo Nation and has a population of over 3000. A good place to start your tour of the town and the Navajo Nation is the Navajo Museum and Cultural Center. The museum has lots of good information about the origins and history of the Navajo (or the Dine) and can help you plan your visit.

Navajo Hogan

I found the history of the Navajo Nation very interesting and I met several very nice, friendly people here at the museum and the zoo.

Navajo Nation Zoo

There is also a small but very proud zoo on site. The zoo specializes in animals native to the area, and in keeping with Navajo beliefs only houses animals that are at risk and have been rescued.
