Old Bisbee

Bisbee was founded in 1880 and named after Judge DeWitt Bisbee, a financial backer of the Copper Queen Mine. By the 1900s Bisbee surpassed Tombstone as the most populace town in the area. Mining was one of the major industries at this time. Bisbee boasted itself as the most cultured town in the area; but there was also the seamier side of the town as shown by the bars and "shady ladies" along Brewery Gulch. The main part of town was destroyed by a fire in 1908; but was quickly rebuilt with many of the buildings remaining as they were then even today.

Surrounding Area

Bisbee itself had many attractions including the Bisbee Mining Museum and the old part of town. It is also close to Tombstone, Sierra Vista, and Douglas. Mexico is also very close by.

Facilities

Bisbee is a popular tourist destination and boasts several nice hotels and restaurants. One of the best is the Cafe Roka.

The pictures of this town are great and detail helpful. I heard of town before but had not concentrated on how nice it is.

Shady Dell RV Park: Stay in Retro Trailers looks fabulous. I heard the Copper Queen was haunted, but then again most of these grand historical places probably are. Bisbee is on my must see list. Thanks for the lovely tour!
