Magnolia and Columbia County

Magnolia is a decent sized town of about 11,000 located in Southwestern Arkansas along US Highway 82. The town was established in 1853 and grew slowly until 1938 when oil was discovered nearby. Magnolia is the county seat of Columbia County. Columbia County was established in 1852 and was named for Christopher Columbus. Columbia County is a dry county meaning the sale of alcohol is prohibited.
