Lewisville and Lafayette County

Lewisville is a town of about 1300 located in the Southwestern corner of the state along US Highway 82. Lewisville is the county seat of Lafayette County which was named after the French hero of the American Revolution, the Marquis de Lafayette. Lafayette is a dry county meaning the sale of alcohol is prohibited. The current courthouse was designed by the architectural firm of Searcy & Searcy and was completed in 1942.

Historic District

Lewisville has a few buildings of historical and/or architectural interest scattered about the town, like this old church.

Civil War Memorial

There are a few graves and a small marker honoring the soldiers who gave their lives during the Civil War, on the courthouse grounds.
