De Queen and Sevier County

De Queen is a town of about 6600 located in Southwest Arkansas. It is the county seat of Sevier County. Sevier County was formed in 1828 and was named for Ambrose Sevier a U.S. Senator from the state. De Queen is at the intersection of several highways so many people go through it on roadtrips. Sevier County is a "dry county" meaning the sale of alcohol is prohibited here.

Sevier County Museum

De Queen is home to the Sevier County Museum which has a few historical buildings and a number of displays about the history of the town and the surrounding area. The Colin Raye Birthplace is also associated with the museum.

This very pretty mural is located in the downtown area near the courthouse.
