Venice is full of history and beauty. I stayed near the San Marco Square and walked to the Jewish Community which is quieter. Children here play ball and rides bikes in the concrete courtyards.
On every corner there are musicians playing music and every morning fresh bread and sandwich roll-ups are made.
I took a gondola ride and it was great. If you ride before 7pm it's cheaper. This tour was $80E per boat. |
| | Burano, Murano and Lido Burano the Lace Island is a fishermans wharf with different colored buildings and lots of shops. They make lace here and it's sold everywhere. The doors to the homes are covered with different colors of material so that tourists can't see inside. Murano is where they make the most beautiful glass in the world. Take a short tour to see how it is made. It takes an artist 25 years to become a master at glass blowing. Lido Beach has huts and tents lined up for picnics etc. Men here wear speedos and women bikinis. |
| | San Marco Square The 4 tents with orchestras playing beautiful music is my favorite. I would walk from tent to tent to listen.
The bells from the Bell Tower and Clock Tower was music to my ears. From the Bell Tower you can take pics of Venice.
During the day, vendors selling masks and paintings are everywhere. Lots of people waiting in line to tour the Doge Palace, Bell Tower and Basicila.
Ah! The feeding of the pigeons! Buy a 1E bag of corn and they will flock towards you and rest on your head and arms. |
