Caracas Travel Guide: 519 reviews and 912 photos
When I go to Caracas, I am very thankful that I stay with relatives. As much as I love this place, I can't imagine being a tourist here. The city is huge and decentralized, having outgrown its original valley to sprawl over the adjacent mountains. Traffic is quite chaotic, so I would discourage all but the most intrepid visitors from renting a car. And the public transportation system does not seem to be designed for tourists either. But maybe this lack of tourist infrastructure is part of what I love about Caracas. It's a real city filled with real people living their lives. And even with the various political and economic hardships they have endured, they are some of the most fun-loving, optimistic people I've ever met.

I hope to visit Caracas for a few days as a tourist next year (this year I only passed on the way to the bus terminal).
