Kruger National Park, was established in 1898, and is one of the largest game reserves in Africa - 300 km from north to south along the Mozambique border, and is easily accessible by road or by plane. Because of the great variety of habitats in the Kruger Park the game varies. We stayed in Sabi Sand which is South Africa’s premier ‘Big Five’ private game reserve, on the western border of Kruger Park and is the place to see lion and particularly leopar. It is a sandy, wooded area, named after the Sabie River and the Sand River. There is no fence between Sabi Sand and the Kruger Park, so the animals can roam freely. Being in a private reserve, you can drive off-road, into the bush for good animal sightings. We also got married here - under a Jackelberry Tree |

| | Vuyatela - Come and Visit Again We stayed at Vuyatela Lodge for 4 nights which has a sister lodge called Djuma close by and shares the same area in the Djuma Game Reserve. Vuyatela means "come and visit again"and is the more luxurious of the two with only eight spacious and private, suites which have large teak decks and plunge pools. As we were in the wedding/honeymoon suite we had the best view of the waterhole from our deck and instead of taking the usual afternoon siesta we often just sat and watched the elephants stroll past on their way to drink. |
The Animals Sharing unfenced boundaries with the Kruger National Park and Mala Mala, Vuyatela has excellent game-viewing - including the 'Big Five', cheetah, hyena, jackal, buck, giraffe, and zebra. Lion and leopard sightings are excellent here.
We travelled to Sabi Sand with UK South Africa experts Rainbow Tours who also organised our wedding here | | |
