Brienz is a charming wood carving village situated at the northern end of its lake - Brienzsee - opposite end to Interlaken. Its a delight to wander the village streets, to admire the quaint wooden houses and notice the colour of the lake - an amazing turquoise colour!
Brienz is also renowned for the Brienz Rothorn Bahn - Switzerland's oldest steam cog railway - another one of those expensive but must do swiss rail trips.
- Pros:colour of the water is amazing, great train ride
- In a nutshell:delightful lakeside resort

Lovely page-Brienz is worth a visit-I like the steamers too.
Its great to see the Giessbach-falls. 1000 meters above them I was working on Axalp for 12 months a long time ago...
a lovely place Sandy Blondy! you're doing great pictures indeed! :-))
Looks like I missed some wonderful views from the cog railway. Isin't that lake just gorgeous! Great shots!
