Mittelallalin: World's highest revolving table restaurant

Mittelallalin, is the terminus of the Metro Alpin and home of the world's highest turntable restaurant (11'483 feet) Sample some fine food in the first-class restaurant which rotates 360 degrees once every hour to reveal a majestic Alpine panorama. Self-service restaurant is also available. Even if the food is not to your liking the views are superb.

Directions: Go as high as you can get using the mountain transport!

Cafe Gletschergrotte: Cafe Gletschergrotte

A 45 minute walk from Saas Fee up towards the glacier lake at the base of the glaciers is the Cafe Gletschergrotte. The lake itself was a dried up disappointment - we passed it on our way down from Spielboden - but cake at the cafe here made up for that ;-)

Favorite Dish: Cakes here are wonderful and generous portions too - we shared an apple cake and rhubarb cake betwen us. The accompanying cream had chocholate curls in it too - scrumptious!

Comparison: less expensive than average

Directions: head out towards the back of the village - well signposted

Spielboden: Sunny Spielboden

A sunny mountain restaurant where you can feed yourself on swiss specialities as you sit on the large sun terrace with its view of the Allain and its glaciers and down to Saas Fee. You can also buy food here to feed the tame marmots.

Favorite Dish: Rosti - fried grated potato with cheese/ham and fried egg on top.
