restaurant with a view

Hotel Schwarzsee: Hotel Schwarzsee

Popular mountain restaurant, self service, reasonable prices when you consider this is Switzerland and Zermatt in particular. Great views, large sun terrace outside with tables - for when the sun shines.

VT fix - Internet Cafe - Zermatt
Big Shop Bar: VT fix - Internet Cafe

Seemed popular with locals and tourists...bit too smokey for my liking. Had sports channel for big events like football but the main reason I popped in here was to log onto VT and check out what was happening whilst I was away.
Bar snacks available.

Internet charge was SFr 2 for 15 minutes.

Directions: main street in Zermatt - in the middle

Edelweiss - Zermatt
Cafe Edelweiss: Edelweiss

Cafe Edelweis is in an isolated position, perched on a cliff, overloking the Trift valley in Zermatt. An unassuming little place and cosy inside.

Its quite a steep hike up here - and there's no cable-car!!

You can see more of this place in the travelogue of the hike up here.

Favorite Dish: Apple Punch!!

Cakes and Cafe Crawls - Zermatt
Hornli: Cakes and Cafe Crawls

When it rains in Zermatt it rains for the day...or it snows! So once you've done the Alpine Museum and all those shops its time for a cafe crawl.

This one the Hornli was quite cosy.....you could select a cake from the shop and have it brought upstairs to the cafe part. Take a window seat up here and enjoy being in the warmth, watching the people pass below.
