Munich is the capital of Bavaria and beer capital of the world! The Oktoberfest (which begins in September strangely enough) is a unique extremely colourful occassion not to be missed. Away from the city the alpine resort of Berchtesgaden a wonderful base for hiking and attractions like the salt mines.

Shame on me - I never was in Munich (yet!). A trip out to Berchtesgaden sounds very interesting!
Yes, there's so much to see in Munich. I'm going there again next weekend, but it's a business trip as usual so I probably won't see much besides the inside of our conference hotel. But I do try to add one or two tips to my Munich page each time.
