  • Favorite Thing: San Anton Palace was built in the 17th century by Grand Master De Paule and now its gardens were a pleasant place to wander on our last few hours in Malta. In 1928 the palace replaced Valletta as the British Governor's residence until in 1974 when it became the official residence of the President of Malta.

  • Favorite Thing: The palace itself cannot be viewed - except by peering through the gates but its pleasant to stroll through the gardens and I imagine they must be a good place to escape the heat in the summer months.

  • Favorite Thing: I think the gardens must be some sort of sanctuary for our feline friends - there were loads here - all lovely. The maltese like their cats too, we regularly saw people come in with food to feed them, not just here in the gardens but all over Malta. Perhaps they share them rather than own them as individual pets!!

  • Favorite Thing: Attard has some beautiful villas and is a desirable place to reside in Malta - infact VT'er Xemx is lucky to live her I'd say!
We enjoyed strolling around here for a while admiring the ornate villas and houses. Villa Bologna is one of the largest, but not very accessible for photos behind its huge walls so a pic of another house will have to suffice!

  • Favorite Thing: Attarrd is situated between Valletta and Mdina and being between the two old capitals was always the centre of transport and communication projects between the two. The Wignacourt acquaduct, completed in 1615, built to solve the problems of Valletta's drinking water supply, was such a project. Its remains pass through this central area, skimming the edge of Attard running all the way down towards Valletta. It used to run all the way from Rabat to Valletta carrying the water supply.

Interesting architecture there. Wignacourt Aqueduct and the Belevedere in Liya look amazing.
