Rabat is the suburbs of Mdina, Malta's original capital, but today is bigger than its neighbour and as such deserves exploring too.
Rabat's claim to fame is of the origins of Maltese Christianity. It was here in A.D. 60 that the Apostle St Paul is said to have lived after being shipwrecked on the Islands off the coast of Malta. As such a visit to the Church of St Paul in Rabat and the catacombs nearby are a must. |
