We enjoyed a brief visit to Kalymnos - to Vathi - as part of a sailing boat trip around some of the islands near Kos and then towards the end of our stay we made our own way to via the ferry from Mastichari on Kos for a longer day trip.
The capital of Kalymnos - Pothia - was alively port town and the other villages we visited were sleepy ghost towns. Being middle of October now it was very quiet, many places were closed for the season . As we waiting for the ferry to go back a whole new arrival from Olympic holidays were arriving and I couln'rt hel[ wondering if it would be jsut too quiet for them. I was glad to have visited but glad not to be staying for a week.

Kalymnos is a renowned sponge diving centre so many shops can be seen with sponges - I didn't realise there were so many different types and shapes.
