We briefly visited Sofia on the way back to the airport after a week's stay at the Ski/alpine resort of Borovets high in the Rila Mountains. I can't say it was my favourite city but it does have a few nice churches (sorry used a postcard here as I run out of film and also some churches were in scaffolding)
1. St Nicholas Russian Church
2. St. Alexander Nevski Cathedral
3. Church of St Nedelya
These are all worth a peek inside.
Besides this there is shopping and many bargains can be found on the main shopping area.

I can`t say it was my favourite city,too! But Rila mountains look nice in your winter picture :-)
That guard looks a little worse for wear in the picture. hehehe
