Snowdonia at the heart of North Wales, a land of wild landscapes, of heather moors, peaceful valleys and tranquil lakes, of brooding mountain skylines dipping into the sea.
A place of great beauty, Snowdonia's history is written into its landscape; prehistoric burial chambers, massive castles recalling past wars between the Welsh and the English. Victorian chapels, quaysides and quarries, magnificent bridges and aqueducts.
There are 5 main routes up Snowdon - radiating out like a starfish. |

Smiles for Snowdonia Summit A special climb was on my 40th Birthday - a gorgeous sunny spring day and I was glad to share this day with Laura (Hayward68) during my first ever VT visit. More pics are in the travelogue and Laura tells the tale of this adventurous hike much better on her Snowdonia page too. |

barryg23 Fri Jul 13, 2007 23:09 UTC Very helpful tips on Snowdonia. We're planning to go hiking and climbing here in August. | M0B1US Sat Aug 20, 2005 20:50 UTC Hey Sandy, thanks for the comments! I will be visiting Snowdonia next month with a group of friends for 5 days, so if you know of any hidden gems...? | lou31 Wed Jul 13, 2005 23:58 UTC Very well written tips and great photos. My short trip to Wales was not long enough. Thanks for showing me more... | cliff_occo Thu May 19, 2005 10:15 UTC Correction. Caernarfon Porthmadog Railway was always narrow gauge, not standard. Standard gauge line ran to Afon Wen. WHR built on it's trackbed to Dinas, now open to Rydd Ddu on original ng trackbed |
