    • Strolling around the marina wall is a pleasant and popular attracticion in West Kirby, especially in the late afternoon or evening for the sunsets.....very beautiful over Hilbre island.

    • The other side of the lake has the beach. Here Hilbre Island can be seen. You can walk out to the island when the tide is out but you must check the tide times for returning - people have been stranded! PLEASE SEE TRAVELOGUE

    • Hilbre is the largest of 4 islands off West Kirby - and is home to much wildlife.
    On a warm summer's day its an idyllic place to take a picnic and laze in the warmth.
    To reach Hilbre Island start at the slipway near the north end of West Kirby Marine Lake. The distance is about 4 miles (note no refreshments are available on the island). Plan your visit around the tide times as Hilbre is cut off for several hours per day. The notice board by the slipway gives full tide information or phone Wirral Country Park Visitor Centre on 0151 648 4371.

    • If its too wet on the marine lake wall - ie. the tide is in and you don't want to get your feet then then simply stroll along the pomenade - there's usually someone feefing the greedy sea-gulls. here they are waiting to pounch on any scraps!

     Been years since I was on the beach in West Kirby but I was on the beach in Talacre on Thursday and I could clearly see your neck of the woods. I guess that was the one and only sunny day we'll have this year.
