Favorite Thing: I enjoyed the Loro Parque so much that I thought I'd share more images and impressions with you here. First off as you arrive at the entrance there is a Thai theme starting with these topiary elephants just to the side of the entrance - a great opeing impression.

Favorite Thing: The ticket office for Loro Parque is in this Thai pagoda entrance. Tickets can be quite expensive so make the most of a full day here to take in all the shows available and thus get your money's worth! This is reputed to be the largest Thai construction outside Thailand and represents the strong links held between Thailand and Tenerife since the visit by the Prince of Siam in 1913.
The size of the Koi carp in the pool here amazed me too.

General Tips: Loro Parque Shows

Favorite Thing: The shows available - Penguins, parrots, Sea-Lions and Dolphins run several times in the day. Get a timetable at the entrance and if you plan carefully you can easily watch all shows in six hour - see what i mean about allowing a full day here. My favourites were the dolphins - I just had to watch them twice! Children who sit in the front seats have the opportunity to touch them and even may get to participate in one of their displays.

bird of Paradise

Favorite Thing: There are pleasant walkways between the various attractions. Lined with lush colourful flowers the native bird of paradise flower was my favourite though. Such gorgeous colours and so unusual.

Favorite Thing: The sea-lions are another of the favourite shows at Loro Parque. Just like the dolphins they apper to be intelligent creatures. Tthe Penguin park is also great :-) The Penguin Park recreates the cold harshness of the Antarctic environment blended with state of the art technology. You travel around the display and see the Penguins swimming underwater or on the vast sheets of ice taking in the snowfall. Just wish I had some pics of that now :-(

Loro Parque Parrot

Favorite Thing: When LORO PARQUE was founded in 1972, it was the first zoological garden to present a parrot show in Europe - actually I found this the least interesting show in the park. I much preferred seeing them in the open air as you walked round the park rather than the seeing the tricks they performed - one for the kids really. Th colours of the macaws were reallly spectacular.

Favorite Thing: All around the park as well as the animal shows there are various themed villages - like this one of a gambia village. These are great places to buy unusual gifts too.
