Malta was an unusual winter holiday destination for us - it just seemed liked the best late deal offering we could find - normally we try to go winter walking in alpine destinations. It was a pleasant change despite the unseasonal weather - the coldest weekl in January for quite a few years apparently - hmm I wonder if they knew we were coming that particular week :-S. |
|  | Anyway we managed to get around quite a bit via the local transport from our base in Sliema and with a local VT'er and enjoyed a VT dinner one night - many thanks again Anne for everything :-)).
We did have bright skies most of the time and when the odd spell of rain occurred - well there's plenty of indoor attractions to see in Valletta so we always made the best of everything, shuffling my planned itinerary as necessary. |
| | In all a good time for sightseeing - nowhere near as hot or crowded as in the summer months which meant we could fit in more sightseeing without being heat exhausted. An added bonus was the feast of St Paul celebrations in Valletta - sort of brought forward from February due to Lent - it certainly added even more colour to this fascinating historical city. |
