Cool Down

Like any mountain weather the sun can be cracking the flags one moment and a terrific thunderstorm the next. The water troughs - which have drinkable water - helped some of us to cool down!
The weather pattern for Abruzzo was fairly typical for our week. Sunny and hot in the morning, you'd see the clouds gather by early afternoon and then about 3pm it would thunder, sometimes hail stones too, lasting about an hour before it cleared up and was sunny again. So make sure you are prepared for all types of weather when hiking.
