    • Fornoli is an old village near to Aulla in Northern tuscany. It has that crumbling charm that others would could call delapilated but from here there is a wonderful view of the Apuan Alps with the clouds clinging in their midst.

    • Lago di Vagli, in the eastern Apuane, is really offf the beaten track. The lake is an artificial creation which sunbmerged the village of Fabbriche. The church tower of this village is supposed to be visble above the water....but It wasn't visible to me :-(

    • Three villages survived the dam...Roggio, Vagli Sopra and Vagli di Sotto which is situated on an arm of the lake. In the main season boats can be hired here.

    • In the village of Vagli di Sotto is a rustic square and just by the church tower is a memorial cross or wrought iron work , dedicated to the lost village sunk below the waters of Lago di Vagli.
