The hillside town of Ravello is located on the small escarpment of Monte Lattari and overlooks the coast south towards the Gulf of Salerno. It is the renowned haunt of writers and musicians and deservedly so - its beauty has inspired them.

Villa Rufulo

Villa Rufolo

Famous for the Villa Rufulo and Villa Cimbrone - both worthy of a visit. Villa Rufolo is smaller and has lovely terraces gardens looking onto the sea. It now hosts Wagner classical concerts in the summer.

Villa Cimbrone

Villa Cimbrone has larger gardens filled with exotic flowers and shrubs, temples and grottoes and statues to explore - longer time can be spent here, although each Villa has its own special character.

loved your site in need of info staying in ravello 3 nites positano 4 nites taking train from rome to salerno, then bus to ravello. where do i get tickets and bus? how close ravello? would appreciate advice on ravello & positano. thanks again tina

Lovely! I only had a mere hour to spend in Ravello due to the bus schedule (don't ask!). Through your page, now I'm able to see much of what I unfortunately missed. Forget Positano & Amalfi -- it's all about Ravello!

FANTASTIC page an area to visit! I was in Ravello only 1 full day and I... skipped Villa Cimbrone hehe. I do hope to come back there someday!
