Wuppertal is a long spread out area - a valley between two hills with the River Wupper running through it. Its not far from Dusseldorf and is notable mainly for its unique monorail.

The word monorail conjures up something modern in my mind but Wuppertal's monorail, the Schwebebahn, is over 100 years old. A ride on it was fascination as it carried you over land and river...come for a ride with me too.

    Great page! But Wuppertal has more than only the Schwebebahn. There is also a very beautiful zoo.
