Aachen was the setting for a VT meeting in September 2004. Many thanks to Sabsi for an open invitation to join her here and for meeting us at the airport and accomodating us in her Dusseldorf apartment - when we eventually got there! |
| | Aachen was once the seat of Charlesmagne and the Holy Roman Empire that greatly changed the face of Christianity in Europe. The main sights centre around the cathedral and the Town Hall but I also enjoyed the sculptures which are a more recent addition to the town centre. |
Amongst all the sightseeing and chatting a lot of eating went on - especially cakes. The sweet gingerbread or Printen is a local speciality. | | |

BillNJ Sun Apr 6, 2008 19:16 UTC Great tips and photos! I will be visiting Aachen in May, so they will be a big help. Best from New Jersey, Bill | Mikebb Wed Dec 19, 2007 12:28 UTC Hi Sandy, enjoyed your tips. Will be in Brussels first week Sept'08, looks like a day trip to Aachen is on the agenda. Do you have other suggestions? | matcrazy1 Sat Dec 30, 2006 00:09 UTC Wow, what a beautiful city full of charming fountains, beautiful old buildings and sculptures. Hmm... to be trapped on a freeway for so long time sounds bad but at least you had great company in your car :-). | Andraf Tue Mar 1, 2005 00:23 UTC Nice page, I loved seeing the pictures of all those fountains. Lookes like a lovely town, I hope to visit it someday. |
