"Fraserburgh" Fraserburgh by murdeen

Fraseburgh is called "the Broch" by locals (I don't know exactly why it just is).

It is also referred to as "Surf City" because it gets good waves although the water is freezing.

The town is located on the North East coast of Scotland 40 miles North of Aberdeen.

Most of the people who live and work here are connected to the fishing industry in some way.

We have a growing number of Eatern Europeans living and working here now, as well as students who are attending our local college (Bannff and Buchan College).

English may be the national language but locals use a lot of Doric words.

Here are some examples of commonly used words and phrases.

"Fit like" means how are you.
"Quine" means girl.
"Loon" means boy.
"Aye" means yes.
"Fit" means what.
"Fags" are cigarettes.
