I spent three days in Stockholm this Easter, a bit spur of the moment because I fancied going somewhere new - turns out I chose well. It's an extremely picturesque city with many astounding views.
This is what I managed to see and do:
Friday - arrived late at Skavsta airport and took the bus to Stockholm. Amazing how quiet the roads are.
Saturday - we went straight to the Vasa museum by ferry in the morning. Walked back to the Old Town via Birger Jarl Street where we ate lunch. In the afternoon, more walking including a wander up to the royal palace.
Sunday - did the 'Winter Tour' by boat. I do a boat trip wherever I can and this was one of the best - very good guide, amazing views at every turn. We did a walk around Sodermalm in the afternoon. One of the highlights of the trip.
Monday - Went to the Stadhuset or Swedish parliament building. I hadn't been too keen on this, especially when I found you must do a guided tour, but it was well worth it. An unusual building. Walk back to Gamla Stan before taking the bus back to Skavsta. |
