La Sagrada Familia is a massive catholic church in the midst of Barcelona's cityscape. This unusual and unfinished church was designed and constructed by Antoni Gaudí dedicated the church to the Holy Family and intended the structure to be the "last great sanctuary of Christendom" (according to wikipedia). The building is expected to be finished in 2026 which also happens to be the 100 years anniversary of Gaudi's death. This church is a phenomenal representation of Christianity and the architectural talent of yesteryear. I cannot imagine someone traveling to Barcelona and not visiting or at least standing next to this monumental structure and basking in it's greatness. It is truly a modern marvel! The cost of entrance is 8 Euros per individual (5 Euros if you are with a group of 21 people or more). You can ride the elevator to the top of the passion facada (about 65meters up) but you can get higher in the church by foot. The church is open 9:00am - 2:00pm and 3:30pm - 7:00pm (given an hour and a half for siesta).

Casa Batlló: Casa Batlló - Alice in Wonderland

Another architectural masterpiece by Gaudi, the Casa Batlló is an insane structure of artistic deviation! The building was built in 1905 and feels like something straight out of the book, "Alice in Wonderland" with a slightly dark, dragon-like feel to it. The facade of this apartment-like building is mosaic tiles with window sills structured like bones or skulls and it is in complete opposition to the adjacent buildings, which are normal in style and form. Its as if you are walking down the streets of Barcelona and you are transported via rabbit hole into a world of psychedelic architecture. The inside of casa batllo is open everyday from 9:00am until 8:00pm
