Where and what

Binyamina is between Haifa and Tel Aviv, not far from the mediterranean, about 6000 inhabitants. It used to be an agricultural village, mostly wine growing, citrus, avocado, peaches and other fruit trees. Now there still are farmes, but most people work in other jobs, as in most of the modern countries.

I live right in the center of the village. Second floor, hidden from the street with bougainvillea, two grapevines covering our porch. The grapes are usually bird food, and often we travel in the summer just when the grapes are ripe.

Washingtonia palms

Palms on the main street by my house. Their seeds start growing all over the lawn, we weed out most of them. Another angle of my kitchen view.

That's interesting, because your tree looks exactly like a Norfolk Pine (Araucaria heterophylla). I have never thought about seed germination, but now you have me intersted ! Norfolk Island is sub-tropical so not very cold :-)

Hi Rachel.Thanks for the info about the booking site. Good to hear they have a cancellation policy. Not that I'll be cancelling. I was blown way by Israel and can't wait to get back.

Nice bougainvillea! I don't think I've ever been to Binyamina (although I spent many weekends in Pardes Hannah).
